Announcing . . . 2016!

2016

Mark your calendars: In October of 2016. the 17th International Fungi & Fibre Symposium will be coming to Pender Harbour! When the announcement was made at the most recent Symposium in Estonia, the room erupted in cheers—the event has never been held in Canada before, and everyone was thrilled to bits at the prospect of checking out our dye mushrooms in British Columbia’s coastal rainforest.

The wonderful members of the Sunshine Coast Spinners and Weavers Guild are enthusiastic about putting on an event to remember, and members of the Sunshine Coast Society for the Hunting, Recognition and Observation of Mushrooms (hereafter known as SCHROOM) are already busy collecting the mushrooms we’ll need to keep the dyepots going.

It’ll be a while yet before we get the details hammered out, but let me know if you’d like to be on our mailing list. Or just keep an eye on this blog.

    1. I just noticed that I didn’t respond to your comment from way back in November – my apologies! You’re on the mailing list, and you’ll hear from us once we get our website up and running. We have some great things planned for that week!

  1. I am delighted to hear that the next IFFF Symposium will be back on the North American Continent. For many years I did not miss a one of them, and got to travel and hunt mushrooms in many Countries. For a good while I was the United States Representative to the IFFF and it was a delight to meet folks from the world, exchanging dyeing information and mushrooms… Carl and I will certainly plan on being at this Symposium in 2016.

  2. I’d like to be informed so please enter my name on the mailing list. I’m from Denmark, but would so much like to attend in 2016 – we’ll see…

    1. You’re on the mailing list, Karen. I do hope you can attend, but I have to warn you: once you’ve been to one Symposium, you won’t want to miss another! There’s quite a contingent from Denmark who come to all of these gatherings – you get a lot of the good sanguineus mushrooms in the Nordic countries.

    1. You’re on the list – glad to hear you’re thinking of coming. I’ll post here when we get our website up, and we plan to have a Facebook page, too. Look forward to meeting you in 2016!
